BADGER HIGH SCHOOL
DAILY SCHEDULE
Modified Block Schedule
(The Best of Both Worlds!)
“The Badger Way”

Studied for nearly two years and adopted in January 1995, Modified Block Schedule is the way we manage class time at Badger.

Think about the world of work.  In one’s daily job, most people do not perform their work in 45-minute segments.  There are times when larger periods of time are needed to successfully complete the task.  As schools prepare students for the world of work in the 21st Century, why not provide flexible time periods for students and staff to complete their learning and teaching tasks?  One answer to this question is Badger’s Modified Block Schedule.

Around the country, many schools are replacing the traditional 7-8 period, 45-50 minute class schedule with block scheduling – 4 classes per day, each 90 minutes in length.  At Badger, we felt flexibility in scheduling was needed.  Modified Block Scheduling was the result.  Our daily schedule for the week looks like this:

Monday, Thursday, Friday –  8 periods, each period 45 minutes in length
                                                         (6 minute passing time)
 Tuesday –                                Periods 1, 3, 5, 7, each period 90 minutes in length
                                                          (6 minute passing time)
 Wednesday –                           Periods 2, 4, 6, 8, each period 90 minutes in length
                                                          (6 minute passing time)

Modified Block Scheduling – the best of both worlds – The Badger Way!  Helping to prepare students for the 21st Century!
